Heart of Darkness

This piece was done as a part of Reader Response Journals for another class. The quote that is on the piece is from the book Heart of Darkness by Joesph Conrad. The heart is mainly done with pencil and some acrylic to add more contrast. The backgound is suppose to look like veins and arteries.

Pangean

This piece is actually pretty small but the picture makes it look better. The white design letters came from when I would draw "tribal tats" on hannah's arm. The biggest one was decided to mean happiness because it looked like a strange smilely face. The piece is done with acrylic paint on paper and then the background is cardboard.

Lighthouse

I think I posted this piece earlier but I needed to a different picture of it. This is the new picture. The lighthouse and then inside of the frame is done with modeling paste and then the frame is done with aryclic paint.

Splattered Fibonacci

This piece is inspired by fibonacci. Most of the other people in my class have done a piece with it so I decided I should try one as well. Part of the piece is done with modeling paste and the other is aryclic paint.

Sun and Water

This is not my best piece because the drawing in the middle of the frame is not the most interesting. I really like the frame though the middle is not that great. Aryclic and modeling paste

Bridge and Birght Sun

This image has taken a while to become finished. At first the boarder was done in carcoal and pencil but then that did not give it the desired color contrast so then I changed it to be aryclic paint like the rest of the piece. The texture was doen by a combination of flexable modeling paste and modeling paste.

Descending Flowers

This piece is acrylic paint and then modeling paste. The piece is showing a growth in my concentration but I think that I need to learn to be more sensitivity to the modeling paste. I think that this will help develop my concentration more.

Blue Squares

This happened on accident. I put the texture on some of the squares using modeling paste and tape.

The picture is not the greatest because it has a highlight on it.

Mountains

I made this piece by using modeling paste on the frame and then arcylic paint on the inside of the frame. I like this piece for the coloring scheme. I like how the frame had the colors from the inside on the frame on it.

Alley Way

This was the first time that I was trying to uses flat vs. texture surfaces. I like the idea but they are parts that dont really match as well. The back building seems to be very cliche. Some of the windows also need some more detail in the inside. The texture is really interesting as well.

Alterbook Fiboncci

This is one of my alterbooks based on Fiboncci using Greek Architecture.

Colorful Mouse

This piece is suppose to help me move forward more in my concentration. I plan on with my next few pieces I am going to be showing flat surfaces vs textured surfaces. This is tissue paper and prism colors.

Bubbles

This piece is another older one. I wish i would have had a better drawing of the girl because I think she looks alot like a monkey.

Car Industry Bailout

This is an older piece but it is suppose to deal with the car industry bailout. The only thing that I enjoyed doing was experimenting with rolling the tire of my car over it.

Lanturn

I love this piece. I must admitt it is my favorite piece that I have done up until this point. I found a piece of modeling paste board in my drawer and then just started painting on it. I got tons of advice from classmates on what to do to finish it off. It went from black and white to what it is because of them so thanks so much to them for helping me out. This is definitely concentration.

Message in a Bottle

This is not symbolizing that I have a drinking problem or anything like that. I was simply the quote that I was liking at the time. The quote is original from a movie and it is a man telling this to a women. The bottle came first on the piece and then the quote. This is part of my concentration. I was also trying to experiment with different fonts at the time.

Peeled Paint Trees

Experimenting was the process on this piece. Its hard to tell but this is actually dried arcylic paint that has then been peeled up and then glued down again. I like the process that I used to make this even though I think the design is pretty normal. I hope to keep woking with this type of texture but it is still just a breadth piece

Room Drawing

This piece was just me drawing on day at home. It is prismacolor on normal paper it is just a breadth piece but I still liked it. It is not my room just made up.

Latin Flower

This was one of the more interesting pieces that I have done so far texture wise. The texture is pretty harsh to the touch and the contrast of a normally soft flower was interesting to me. The quote on it is Latin and it means "True love will hold on to those whom it has held." I loved the quote it does not really go with the piece but it brings more meaning to it.

Texture Landscape

This is my textured landscape. The top of it or the sky is done with texture paint and the bottom of it or the rocks are really packing peanuts that have been painted.

Sun and Tree Branch

This is painted on board and it is really another piece that I painted over. It is some pen but mainly acrylic paint.

Homewrecker

This is actually an older piece that I made really early in the semester for the state art show. This is Joan Miro inspirated. There was a period of time when I was really into all of his work (so much that I wrote an essay about him) but last year I painted a ceiling tile with a piece similar to this one but not the same idea. This piece is called Homewrecker because there at three "people": one s the yellow square, another the half blue heart, and the last is the red thing on the left side. The brown path with the black dots is showing the path of the people and how the blue one is married to the yellow one but goes to the red one that later goes into the yellow and blues' house. Its a complicated story line but that was pretty much what Joan Miro did with his piece that is like this one. This is painted on canvas and it uses acrylic paint.

Nature Glass

This piece is a wooden board that has been painted and then with glue, I pasted down the glass. After that I decided to paint on all of the glass and make it a more nature theme because of the colors of the glass already.
